Growing up, I was always secretly fascinated with the violin, viola, and cello, but my dad, being a jazz saxophone and clarinet player, encouraged me to learn a wind instrument. Being a fairly girly girl, I opted for the flute - an instrument that I'm not at all fond of now. Oh, I love this painting and the story that goes with it! When I was in 4th grade, I remember being in a long line, waiting to sign up to take an instrument. While waiting, I fluctuated from flute to violin, back and forth, and when I got to the table, I blurted out "violin!" Many many years later, I still play the viola in a band....but I always wanted to learn to play the flute :) Like/f
